Rummy on the Board!

Playing card games is a blast! Though it can get a bit interesting with Tic (he sometimes licks, bites, throws his cards, or shows everyone his cards... he is really bad at go fish and poker...). One of the artist favorite games is rummy. Its a card game that you can play with 2 or more players, (add a deck of cards for every 4 players) everyone gets at least 7 cards, and you have to put down at least 3 cards at a time for a set of 3 (like 777) or a run (456 of the same suit). You can play off of another player's cards that they have down and you only have to put down 1 card at that point (house rules). Whoever deals your cards flips the top card on the deck and creates a discard pile (to which you fan out so you can see everything as this will help you in the long run as everyone discards). To start your turn you pick up a card from the pile if you can't use anything from the discard pile (if you pick up from the discard pile the farthest inward card you picked up has to be used immediately and you get to keep all the rest of the card you picked up) and place down any sets or runs you have in your hand, to signify you ending your turn you discard one card into the discard pile and the next person goes. This normally goes in a clockwise turn of events but you get to decide whatever order works for you! If you want this to be a little easier someone younger or someone newer to cards you could do it by colors instead of suits. At the end of each round you count your points numbers 2 - 9 are worth 5 points 10 - king is worth 10 points and Aces are worth 15 points. The first person to reach 500 total points wins the entire game.

Playing cards can be quite a task as it involves your fine motor and cognitive skills as well! Bleep keeps it interesting with lots of colorful language, Fin is just doing his thing, and Zeezee keeps falling asleep... but the game keeps going on! They all enjoy it as well even with their challenges. :)
