Say Hi!

Some vocal tics sound so normal they can start conversations with strangers or get a question asked. Personally, the artist has one that says "hi" a lot, and it's so normal that she forgets it's a conversation starter so in public it's sometimes hard to figure out who is actually starting a conversation and who is just responding to her tics. Even her family doesn't respond to the word "hi" anymore due to how often this tic happens.

Is it awkward at times? Yes, especially when it's one after another and the random person starts to get a bit frustrated and responds with the "like I already said hi back to you" face or keeps responding to my tics, which I find funny. Normally I just explain that I'm not actually talking to them and I have a neurological disorder or state that I have Tourettes (depending on how I am feeling that day) and if they ask a question if I can answer it I do. As education and helping people understand instead of stewing in frustration and confusion helps at least in my own opinion and experiences.
